About Me

photoHi there! I decided to share my life with Type 1 diabetes in 2010.  I’ve had diabetes since 1989, I started going to camp in 1994, I started using an insulin pump in 2002 and I started using a CGM in 2012. I credit diabetes with a lot of positives in my life, including health & friendships. I think exercise is really important, but I also find many forms of it completely boring.  I think that eating healthy & natural is important, but I find that can be difficult too, as I like to try new combinations of food frequently. I won’t turn my head at the offer of dessert though!  I think bolus-worthy foods make insulin worth having. I try to live my whole life without diabetes interrupting, but we all know that is quite difficult.  Here I’ll tell you the stories of the diabetes products I like, what I use, how I make diabetes fit MY life, how I hide my gear, and all those little interrupting moments as well.  Please don’t hesitate to leave comments, suggestions, insights or questions!

Things I love:

Hey! I also love skiing but haven’t been able to get my blood sugars under control while skiing. How do your blood sugars normally do when you ski? If you have been able to get then under control, what do you do? I find when I go on a tougher slope, my adrenaline kicks in and I get pretty high :-/

OMG!!!!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE country music too!!! I saw Chris Young at the Brad Paisley concert a year ago May at what used to be called the Comcast Center. I can’t keep up with what it’s called now!! LOL!! U Rock!! Ur an inspiration with everything you accomplish!! I’m just trying to go for a walk consistently never mind running half marathons & skiing. Congrats on ur first 1/2 marathon!!! I used to run until 2001 but 2 knee replacements and I was told no more running to increase the life of my new knees but there’s nothing like the thrill of a run and the feelings u get while doing it and after. a walk, although good exercise just doesn’t give me the ame feelings a run used to!! Oh well. I’ll live!!

Keep up the great work & it was AWESOME to get to meet u this past week & esp catch up w u after our flight to Boston!! Thanks for keeping me company in baggage claim!! Hope you got home safe w/o too much trouble and safely!!

I'd love to hear what you think about my blog thoughts!
