Look at the Cup!
I think that we all know I enjoy a cup of coffee. I’d drink it all the time if it kept me feeling the way water does. Last week I stopped at Dunks on my way to pick up the kids from school. I know there are people who do not trust the employees with sugar/sugar substitutes and put it in by themselves. I like to give people a chance (mostly because this Dunks only keeps sugar in the customer area). I was not paying attention to the person making my coffee, only the one taking my money. All of a sudden he completely ignored me and started yelling at the person making my coffee. “You cannot just make all coffees regular. Look at the cup! That says Equal. Throw that cup away and start over.” He had put sugar in my cup rather than equal, and someone else had caught the mistake. I was really grateful that the employee had noticed and saved my diabetes that day.
And so emphatically, too! Usually, when I question the sweetner that was put in my coffee, I get a response that suggests “Stop whining! You’ll drink what I give you and you’ll like it!”. Seems this guy recognized the importance of getting the customer’s order right goes beyond just good service.
I’ve been burned so many times (coffee-pun intended) by supposed “sugar free” drinks that I have all but given up on ordering anything but water at restaurants. My favorite coffee haunt knows me and has always been spot-on, though – thank the stars š
