Swaying Pump
I feel as though because of diabetes and the whole weakened immune system, that when I get the same cold that person X, Y and Z have gotten, I get it with much more severe symptoms. Last week was one of those weeks. I am still in that “really tired, but yes I’m healthy!” mode. I had a couple JDRF meetings last week, and after the first one I came home and plopped my butt on the couch with a snack and didn’t want to move the rest of the night. I bolused for my snack and put my pump down next to me. This is the moment when I remind you that I use the really long tubing. I got up for a glass of water and I couldn’t figure out what was bumping me at the ankles. As I was trying to figure it out, I looked down, noticed my pump swaying from side to side and I tried to step over my pump. At this point I would also like to remind you that balance seems off with a head cold. I tried to grab the wire of my pump unsuccessfully. I looked around for something to grab on to, but there were wires and feet and oh my god I’m falling. All of a sudden there I was in the middle of my floor, with my pump and my chosen long tubing to blame. Yes, you can laugh. I certainly did. I mean, really, who does this?! I also know that I could have kept this completely private, but it’s no fun to laugh at myself by myself.
