If You Have Insulin
Last week was hot. Unbearable even. When I picked up the kids from camp every day they asked the same two questions. Can we go swimming? Can we get ice cream? I knew that Friday was going to be the hottest day, so I was saving an ice cream trip for that day. As we were sitting there with our ice cream, BoyMagine made me yell in the middle of the shop. Squeal is probably a better term. Here’s why:
“Did you know that even if you have insulin you can still do all the things your friends do?”
I squealed Yes! And I wanted to ask “Can you shout that from the rooftops.” Instead I just said “you are exactly right.” They had a few more questions about diabetes, and the conference, but mostly we focused on eating our ice cream and cooling off.
Yeah Ice Cream. Normally, I get the stupid quotes.
He’s a wise child!
Ah, ice cream and advocacy… awesome bolus-worthy combo. Thanks for sharing, Briley
Smart kid!
Yes! It’s okay to squeal in public…
I do that too! Wait for the hottest day of the week for the ice cream, “YES!”
And yeah…super smart kid!
I was thinking about it, and I should’ve brought them swimming instead? But oh well, I like the results I had 🙂
