Getting Away
We all know that I love escaping this city to head north. Not that I don’t love this city, but, I’m also not really a city person. So when Abby asked me if I wanted to come to Vermont for the weekend, I checked my calendar and said “yup, count me in.” So after a really long day on Friday (we were not in the lockdown area, but close enough that it could’ve turned into lockdown in a moment’s notice), I jetted out of here and set out on my 4 hour drive. When I finally arrived it was time for nachos, drinks & chick flicks. It was exactly what I needed. On Saturday, we headed out for a hike, which was supposed to be with Insulindependence. Since the weather called for thunderstorms, only 3 of us showed up. And I’m so glad we did.
We drove downtown and found this glorious little sandwich place, before heading to a free chocolate tasting. Yes, you’re reading that right. We learned how to smell & break the chocolate and what to look for before actually eating it. When we got home and popped more chocolate in our mouths, we completely forgot all the tips, and it was no less delicious. The weekend concluded with drinks, dinner, a delicous lunch on Sunday and lots of talking and laughing. I feel like I should give you a diabetes update, but other than the fact that we’d test at the same time, it really didn’t make an appearance. Thank you Abby for giving me a weekend away and I can’t wait until it happens again.
Wowsers! Nachos, chocolate, AND Abby? Very nice!
Scott, you can come next time 🙂
I know Scott! It doesn’t get much better than that!
