Ski Coat
I have written about skiing as much this season, but then again, I haven’t been writing as much as I was last year. Before the season started, I was looking at the Dexcom wondering how it would do. I know the reason I have it is because of skiing, but would it be too cold? On the back it says not to get it colder than 32 degrees. That is hard to do while living in New England, never mind spending as much time as possible on the mountains. So I made my Dexcom a coat. YEARS ago, Mom made a ton of fleece blankets and I knew we still had some spare fleece in a closet. I dug through & found it, found her sewing kit and got started.
I have since lost this particular coat. I unfortunately left it in the hotel room during a skiing weekend. However my mother made me another one, which actually lays flat and the stitching is in a straight line. My dexcom also fits in that one much more snuggly. When I ski I have an inside zippered pocket where it sits with my phone. My meter goes in the side where it’s not zippered because there is always a backup meter in my purse or hotel room. In the outside pockets sit mangos, Level and/or granola bars.
And it doesn’t block the signal from the transmitter and reduce the effective range? I’m impressed! There has been speculation that the fabric in a simple pocket is enough to render the range of a competing CGM unusable.
I have not noticed a difference at all. What I do notice is that my meter is generally to cold to use on the mountain and this is not!
Dexcom Coat. adorable.
Are you sure that’s a Dexcom coat and not a Dexcom Snuggie? 😉
