More than Raising Money
Wednesday night was the latest installment of the YLC meetings. We discussed the upcoming events and details and blah blah blah. It wasn’t quite as boring as I’m making it sound. The greater thing about these meetings is that I’m meeting more and more people just like myself: young, in the city, with diabetes. We’ve started going to dinner after these meetings as well. And this is where the local support feels great. Conversations range from “how many carbs do you think will be in my dinner” to “Wait. you started your Dexcom by watching a video” to pumps and dresses (sorry guys) and “the first time I met Briley she had blood gushing out of her leg.” Oh sure, we talk about vacations and work and friends and birthdays and all the OTHER things that OTHER people talk about too. It helps me get to know these people, but the funny diabetes conversations are what make me feel like I’ve found a fabulous group of people.
