Diabetes in the Wild

July 6, 2012

I went to Starbucks after work last night.  It was refreshing being in there with so few people.  I got my drink and was standing waiting for it, when the girl behind the counter said “Is that an Animas Ping?”  She explained that she had the Medtronic and that she was diagnosed when she was seven.  I told her about switching, and why I chose to do it. I said that I loved Minimed, but I also love Animas. Soon more customers came in and we had to cut our conversation short, but it was so nice to talk to a Diabetic In the Wild.

I never seem to meet diabetics in the wild. And it makes me sad 😦

I saw one at Staples once back in the days of the 508. He was not a friendly DITW.

I hope this happens to me some day! Your story gave me the good kind of shiver.

How exciting!!! I wanna have a Diabetes in The Wild meetup at Starbucks too. Or a DOC Meetup at Starbucks would be cool too. 😉

I'd love to hear what you think about my blog thoughts!
