First of all, if you don’t know what Ekphrasis means, you’re not alone, and you can check it out here.
I went through a few different images before i found one that stopped me in my tracks, and in that moment I knew I could relate it to diabetes. First, the mountain. Does that look like a blood sugar graph to anyone else? Hopefully it doesn’t look like this a lot, but I know that it looks like that every so often. The more it looks like this mountain though, the more frustrated living with diabetes can get. It’s hard, and it sucks and sometimes it seems like there is no end. (Because there isn’t…) At that point, I just have to go back to the basics and keep moving. The water is calm, so I pretend that my life is calm and keep going through this life, just like the kayaker is. Refusing to do anything about won’t get me anywhere, but just like this person, I keep going. It doesn’t matter what is behind or in front, just that I keep moving.
