Quick Decision
Through the course of my life, I’ve met a LOT of people with diabetes. I am very glad to have all of these people in my life (even though I wish I didn’t have to).
To make a long story short… I was somewhere recently where I was talking with someone who may know one of my camp friends in a professional manner. I wanted to ask if they knew my friend, but then I imagined the question “Yes. How do you know so-and-so?” I don’t know if they have disclosed their diabetes in their professional setting, and it’s not up to me to do that for them. Diabetes is personal, but we have to take it into professional settings every day. Due to my line of work, I feel that it is in everyone’s best interest to know that I have diabetes (knowledge and safety). I think it would be easier (for me) if everyone felt the same way, but I don’t know how they feel.
How do you decide who/when to disclose your diabetes? Has anyone ever mistakenly disclosed it for you?
