Making it Worthwhile
There are times in our lives when we all go through “I hate diabetes.” AKA diabetes burnout. And wouldn’t you know that I’m experiencing all that right now as we’re in the midst of awareness month? But these are the things that make diabetes awareness month worth it:
- A text message: “Thank you for having diabetes so I could meet you and have you as a best friend!!” I was low when I got this and yes, I did start crying.
- A simple group email from a mother of a CWD saying “thinking of you” this month.
- A text message from a cousin saying “We are having a diabetes awareness night drinking 🙂 all blue drinks!”
- Picking the kids up from school last Friday and seeing them both in blue after casually mentioning that people who support diabetes will be wearing blue on Fridays in November.
