With a Little Help

October 14, 2011

Being sick is a pain.  Having diabetes is a pain.  Being sick & having diabetes makes each even more of a pain.  So it’s no surprise that the numbers went up.  While sick I was doing the basic minimum.  Testing & bolusing but trying to not pay attention or worry.  But then I went to enter my numbers into sugar stats. And I’m not going to tell you that I enter my numbers religiously, because I don’t.  But I try to. So after I entered some numbers I was feeling a little dejected.  And of course I tweeted about it (because after all, diabetes is the reason I have a twitter account.)  I don’t know what I was expecting, but sometimes it’s the little things in life that just make you feel like a few stupid numbers aren’t your whole worth.

Thank you Scott.  Those 4 words helped more than you would think.  I still haven’t entered my numbers since then, but I know that when I do, my average will be lower than it currently is.

You are very welcome. Diabetes often seems like a double edged blade that cuts both ways. We’re doing good, but not good enough. We’re trying hard, but not hard enough. A1C improvement, but still room for better.

It’s so hard to find the right level of motivation that, at the same time, doesn’t make you feel like throwing in the towel. Your tweet said it perfectly. 🙂
