Back in April when my friend asked if I wanted to run a half marathon with her, it seemed so awesome and so far away. Now it’s 5 days away and I’m FREAKING OUT! Yes, I’m ready. Yes, I ran 11 miles this weekend. Yes, I know I can do this. But to do it in a race environment with people watching and cheering me on is completely different. There are so many what if moments and I just can’t help but let them take over this week. I’m stocking up on gatorade, liquid glucose, water, sweatbands, test strips, bananas and probably more. During my 11 mile run I realized that I walk up hills way faster than I run up them, so I plan on walking. As far as a final time goes, it just makes more sense. If I have to walk more than that, it’s okay. The goal here is completion. Hopefully without crazy blood sugars, but just completion. Keep me in your thoughts on Saturday and start praying that the weather is wonderful (not hot, not frigid, not windy, and no precipitation).
